About Me

Hello,

I am Katelan Pittick,

a contestant in the most recent Miss World Australia National Finals who is incredibly honoured to have been selected as one of the Top 12 National Finalists within our entire nation and be appointed as the official Miss World Australia Social Media/Media Honouree. While I am passionate about pageantry, my true love lies with the ocean and its incredible marine life. I have been fortunate enough to scuba dive and snorkel with a variety of species, including Reef Sharks and Bull Sharks, Manta Rays, and Turtles, thanks to my mother who introduced me to the beauty of the ocean at a young age during a dive through the Great Barrier Reef.

Participating in Miss World Australia has been a transformative experience for me. It is more than just a beauty pageant; it is a platform for women to embrace a compassionate and humanitarian lifestyle. At the heart of Miss World is the “Beauty with a Purpose” initiative, which was founded by Julia Morley in 1972 and is a program that operates globally to help support amazing causes, including the involvement with an incredible amount of humanitarian projects worldwide. Finding my own purpose through my involvement with Miss World Australia has been a crucial aspect of my personal growth and has provided me with insight into what motivates, inspires, and drives me.

I am a scoliosis warrior, having been diagnosed at age 11 and has since had a full-length spinal fusion due to the severity of my spinal curvature. As a result, I launched the "myscoliosis" website as a personal project of mine, in which holds a very special place in my heart. My most raw, vulnerable, and truest self is on display for the world to see. I have undertaken this project to shed light on my own journey with severe scoliosis, in the hope of educating others and creating a platform of support for the scoliosis community, where individuals can find inspiration, comfort, and reassurance. I am determined to elevate the national conversation on scoliosis and bring this prevalent diagnosis to the forefront of public awareness, with the goal to assist families in identifying early signs and preventing the occurrence of severe cases that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
